The mission of Manos de Cristo is to empower low-income individuals with a loving hand of assistance and without regard to age, gender, race, or religious preference. Manos de Cristo promotes dignity and self-reliance by meeting basic needs with food and clothing, providing essential oral care, and furthering educational development.
Dental health is crucial to overall health and well-being. Manos is one of the few organizations dedicated to providing vital dental care to adults, children and seniors who are under or un-insured. Nearly 6,000 unduplicated patients are treated each year, including those seeking emergency treatment. The Dental Center has no patient restrictions and aims to make dental care accessible to anyone in need.
Education is the building block of self-sufficiency and key to improving financial stability and futures. Manos provides critical adult education courses such as computer, English as a Second Language and Citizenship classes. More than 700 adults in our community invest in their education through our program each year.
People struggling to make ends meet must often choose between paying the rent or feeding and clothing their families, a choice Manos believes no one should have to make. Because of generous donations, the food pantry is able to provide one-weeks’ worth of groceries and clothing as emergency assistance to our community. The Back-to-School program for children provides over 2,000 children each year with clothing, backpacks and school supplies, so they can focus on learning and feel equal to other children who are more fortunate.
